ASUN to host Fitness Course for Adults

Arkansas State University-Newport announced Thursday that the college will offer a 12-week Fitness & Health Education course for adults beginning March 28 on the college's Newport campus.  

The class is made up of two components, an exercise component entitled "Extension Get Fit," and an education component entitled "Reshape Yourself," and will be taught be Cooperative Extension Agent Taylor Hastings.  

"Extension Get Fit" is a community-based strength training program targeting adult Arkansans.  Based on research, the program is designed to increase strength and improve balance and flexibility.  "Reshape Yourself" is a healthy weight program, with weekly topics including healthy recipes, reading food labels, fad diets, eating out, portion sizes, sugar substitutes, healthy snacking and strength training.

The hour-long class will be held in the ASU-Newport gymnasium in Walton Hall each Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 2:30 p.m.  The course will run through June 15 and the fee for the course is $12.
