ASUN Students Win @ ALPNA Skills Competition

Two Arkansas State University-Newport Practical Nursing students brought home trophies from the Arkansas Practical Nurses Association Skills Competition and Conference held last week on the campus of the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.

Darbi Jaynes Nursing StudentGwendolyn Conley Nursing StudentDarbi Jaynes, a Practical Nursing student from Jonesboro, finished in first place in the Nutrition competition, while Gwendolyn Conley, also a Practical Nursing student from Jonesboro, finished second in the Prepared Speaking competition.


The ALPNA competition is a state-wide student competition for nursing students. ASU-Newport students competed with more than 30 students from over 10 schools from across the state.  2016 marked the second consecutive year that ASUN students have placed in the competition.
