Eleven Arkansas State University-Newport students earned recognition at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda Leadership Conference and State Competition held earlier this month in Little Rock.
Armaan Dhrani, a Business student from Jonesboro, captured first place in the Accounting competition while Hospitality students Meghan Cantera of Jonesboro, Jessica Rucker of Bono and Jane Onovwerosuke of Lagos, Nigeria came in first place in the Human Resources Management competition.
Krystal Barrett, a Business student from Forrest City, took first place in Business Communications 2-Year Division and second place in the 2-Year & 4-Year Division. Business student, Brandi Barksdale of Jonesboro, finished third in the Computer Applications competition.
Cole Nooner of Lepanto teamed with Amanda Cochran of Dyess to finish fourth in Business Ethics. Also, in fourth place Brandi Moyer of Caraway in the Help Desk competition, and Kim Groom of Jonesboro in the Macroeconomics and Microeconomics 2-year college division.
Al-Fredia Hampton of Jonesboro, Jessica Rucker and Jane Onovwerosuke earned fourth place in Hospitality management while Jasmyn Clay of Swifton took fifth place for her “Ronald McDonald House - Tab Collection” Community Service Project.
ASU-Newport received the Gold Chapter Award and was recognized for the fourth largest local chapter membership in Arkansas.
