NEWPORT, Ark. (12/2/2014) — Great seats remain available for the Tuesday, Dec. 9 production of “A Christmas Carol” at Arkansas State University-Newport.  The second installment of this season’s Patron Series, “A Christmas Carol” Will feature approximately 50 students from Jackson County, Newport and Weiner schools as part of the production.

“A Christmas Carol” will bring costuming for the local students, who will appear on stage three times during the award-winning production.  A powerful story of redemption, “A Christmas Carol” has enchanted audiences the world over with its simple message of selfless giving, and this new adaptation of Dickens’ classic fills the stage with veteran Broadway actors, lush costumes, stunning sets, music and dance.  Playing to sellout audiences across the country year after year, the musical is a production of the historic Palace Theatre in Manchester, N.H.

“We are very excited to announce that even more area students will be joining the production,” said Van Provence, ASUN Director of Communications and Public Relations.   “Officials from the school in Weiner reached out and requested spots for their students, and the production staff immediately said yes.  We are very appreciative of the administrations and staffs from all three local school districts for allowing their students to join in the production.  The musical will be the biggest production ever staged at our Center for the Arts, and will be a great way for families to get the Christmas season underway.  We are excited to continue to bring quality entertainment to Jackson County, and are happy to have the opportunity to involve the local schools in the production.”
