CARES Act

ASUN 45-Day Fund Update (08/22/2020)

  1. ASU-Newport signed and returned the Certification and Agreement to use no less than 50% of funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.  Click here to see a copy of the signed agreement.
     
  2. The total amount of funds that ASUN received: $633,319
     
  3. The total amount distributed to students (as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter): $633,319
     
  4. As of August 20,2020, 205 students were eligible for the Summer institution-initiated, student -certified award and 44 students were eligible (and requested) additional funds through the Summer Student-Initiated Award. More can be eligible based on student-initiated requests for additional funds.
    As of August 20, 2020, 295 students were eligible for the FINAL institution-initiated award. Students were not required to certify this award because of previously certified needs.
     
  5. The total number of students who have received their award on the subsequent 45-day report (Second Report): Institution-Initiated, Student-Certified awards total 1126, Student-Initiated awards total 106.
     
  6. The methodology used by ASUN:
    For Summer 2020, all active students (excluding concurrent, IGNITE, and visiting students) would be awarded a Student Emergency Grant based on their need as determined by their enrollment status and Pell eligibility as of March 16, 2020 (enrolled in at least one in-person course for Spring 2020) and June 6, 2020 (enrolled in at least one in-person course for Summer 2020). For students who have not completed the 2019-2020 FAFSA, they will not be eligible until they complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA.

    For the Final Award, all active students (excluding concurrent, IGNITE, and visiting students) were awarded a Student Emergency Grant Institution-Initiated grant based on their need as determined by their enrollment status and Pell eligibility as of March 16, 2020 (enrolled in at least one in-person course for Spring 2020) and be enrolled in Fall 2020 courses as of July 27, 2020. June 6, 2020. For students who have not completed the 2019-2020 FAFSA, they will not be eligible until they complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA.  Award Amounts were based on the total remaining CARES Student Emergency Funds ($205,320) divided by the number of active, eligible students who received a Spring 2020 award and enrolled in Fall 2020 courses (295 students).

  2. The total amount of funds that ASUN received: $633,319
     
  3. The total amount distributed to students (as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter): $342,890
     
  4. As of June 6,2020, 941 students are eligible for the institution-initiated, student -certified award.  More can be eligible based on student-initiated requests for additional funds.
     
  5. The total number of students who have received their award on the subsequent 45-day report: Institution-Initiated, Student-Certified awards total 847, Student-Initiated awards total 94.
     
  6. The methodology used by ASUN:

ASUN 30-Day Fund Report (05/24/20)

  1. ASU-Newport signed and returned the Certification and Agreement to use no less than 50% of funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.  Click here to see a copy of the signed agreement.
     
  2. The total amount of funds that ASUN received: $633,319
     
  3. The total amount distributed to students during the first 30 days: $214,104
     
  4. As of May 24,2020, 676 students are eligible for the institution-initiated, student -certified award.  More can be eligible based on student-initiated requests for additional funds.
     
  5. The total number of students who have received their award on this 30-day report: Institution-Initiated, Student-Certified awards total 649, Student-Initiated awards total 61.
     
  6. The methodology used by ASUN:
    For Spring 2020, all active students (excluding concurrent, IGNITE, and visiting students) would be awarded a Student Emergency Grant based on their need as determined by their enrollment status and Pell eligibility as of March 16, 2020. For students who have not completed the 2019-2020 FAFSA, they will not be eligible until they complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA. Repeat the same process for Summer I and II terms.
