Major: Psychology

Why ASUN? I chose ASU-Newport because it was so close to home for me. I am not really the kind of person who is very good with change so given the opportunity to attend ASU-Newport was a blessing in a way. I am from Swifton, Arkansas which is not very far from Newport. My whole life is put together here in Jackson County, and now I can stay home and go to this amazing school and be a leader. I know so many people here from my school in Tuckerman and being a part of the Newport community I don't feel like I am being thrown into unfamiliar waters. ASU-Newport is a college that you can go to and feel at home and not be nervous to transition from high school to college.

What is your favorite spot on ASUN? My favorite spot on the ASUN campus is The Hub because I am a teenager and all teenagers tend to do is eat so it’s just natural. Plus the cheese fries are pretty fire.

Major: Nursing

Why ASUN? My parents didn’t get a good education, so they were determined for me to go to college.  ASUN is very affordable and only a few minutes from my house.  ASU-Newport is always working on new programs and degrees, so luckily, I can achieve my associates of Applied Science in Nursing in a shorter amount of time.  ASUN staff is a big part of why I love it here.  The staff and faculty are so friendly and help in any way possible.

What is your favorite spot on ASUN? My favorite spot on campus is the Veterans Student Lounge.  It is such a good place to study and relax!

Why ASUN? ASUN is an excellent place to start because it is close to home, affordable, and a great place to further your education. They are easily accessible and very helpful. I chose ASUN because it will help set me in a position where I can have the career that I want. I am grateful for ASUN.

What is your favorite spot on ASUN? My favorite spot is The Hub. They make great food and have excellent service!

Major: Radiation Therapy

Why ASUN? Choosing ASU-Newport was one of the easiest choices I had to make my senior year of high school. I knew from the moment Kevin Pearce and Matt Hardin came to talk to the senior class that this college was going to be different! ASUN is a college that is very home like where everyone is trying to help one another and you can get your feet wet in college life instead of diving in head first at a big university! Go Aviators!

What is your favorite spot on ASUN? The student lounge in Walton Hall! It is a great place in between classes to go and relax with friends!

Major: Nursing

Why ASUN? I chose ASUN because I am interested in completing college without amassing a lot of student debt. ASUN will allow me to complete an associate level degree debt free. I can then transfer and continue my studies using my transfer scholarship

What is your favorite spot on ASUN? My favorite spot on campus would be the Veterans Lounge. This is a quiet place for me to relax in between classes, and it's a simple spot to meet up with friends to study or just hang out!

Alissa WillisAlissa Willis
Newport, AR
Major: General Education

Why ASUN? I chose ASU-Newport because I feel more at home here. I knew that I wasn't going to any of the other colleges that I had applied to. I did not want to go too far away from home. I feel comfortable at ASU-Newport.

What is your favorite spot on ASUN? Definitely, The Hub! The food is awesome and it’s a great place to just chill and get your work done.
