On April 8, 2024, ASU-Newport will find itself at the heart of a remarkable natural phenomenon: the Total Solar Eclipse. As Newport lies directly in the path of totality, our campus is uniquely positioned to offer an unparalleled viewing experience of this awe-inspiring celestial event.
To celebrate, ASU-Newport is hosting a series of special events, including on-campus camping opportunities, allowing guests to immerse themselves fully in the eclipse experience. Whether you're an avid astronomer, a curious observer, an educator looking for eclipse resources, or are looking for an educational adventure for yourself, our eclipse-themed activities are designed to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of this rare cosmic occurrence.

8:00 a.m. – CFA auditorium – movie Apollo 13
10:00 a.m. – CFA auditorium beginning live feed from NASA
ASUN will have 200 faculty, staff, and students
150 car slots can be accommodated with a total of 500 public visitors to the campus
Safe Viewing, First come first serve
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - Food for purchase at Food Trucks
9:00 a.m. Yard games available.
1:00 p.m. Public is welcome to bring a blanket, chairs, eclipse glasses
1:30 p.m. Loudspeaker will have various speakers explaining the event
4:00 p.m. Traffic control to direct vehicles out of the campus
4:00 p.m. All campers will need to exit the campus
