By committing their skills to St. Bernards, these students will have dedicated clinical space at the hospital, receive automatic employment upon graduation and a monthly stipend. Pandemic Helps Drivers Shed Stigma

It’s taken a global pandemic to help alter the image of the truck driver to be the hero who braves the virus to deliver necessary goods to stores. Despite the improved image of truckers, there is a national shortage of drivers, the American Trucking Association reported. There are 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States, the association noted in a news release issued earlier this year. Read how drivers were able to shed the stigma.

Operation Transformation was a huge success Saturday, April 24. Many people participated in the event, toured the new Joe and Helen Harris Center for Opportunities, participated in the silent auction and enjoyed lunch and snacks from IMAD, Black Hound BBQ and Tropical Sno! On site for the event was the Arkansas State University-Newport Criminal Justice Program providing ChildPrint ID Kits. St. Bernards Healthcare has entered into a partnership with Arkansas State University-Newport (ASUN) to provide employment for individuals dislocated from work or struggling with poverty. The partnership, part of the Arkansas Delta Workforce Opportunities for Rural Communities (ADWORC) program, aims to increase the labor participation rate in ASUN’s service areas by preparing workers in manufacturing, hospitality and allied health industries.
