ASUN Signs Articulation Agreement with Lyon College for Pre-Nursing Pathway

NEWPORT, AR — Arkansas State University-Newport (ASUN) and Lyon College recently signed an articulation agreement to facilitate a seamless transfer pathway for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This collaboration will enhance educational opportunities for nursing students in Arkansas.
 

Under the agreement, students will begin their academic journey in the traditional pre-nursing pathway at Lyon College, transition to ASUN to complete the RN program, and then return to Lyon College to finish their bachelor's degree. This integrated approach ensures a comprehensive educational experience, combining the strengths of both institutions to produce well-qualified nursing professionals.

Dr. Johnny Moore, chancellor of Arkansas State University-Newport, emphasizes that this articulation agreement, “embodies our dedication to fostering educational excellence and collaboration. By partnering with Lyon College, we are creating a robust pathway that not only meets the needs of our students but also addresses the critical demand for skilled nurses in our healthcare system."

"The pre-nursing pathway is designed to offer flexibility and support for our students. This structure not only enriches their educational journey but also prepares them to meet the diverse challenges of the healthcare industry,” said Dr. Becky Le, director of nursing education at Lyon College. “Pre-nursing students will remain on the Lyon College campus the entire four years and have full access to the many unique resources provided to our students.”
