ASU-Newport Career Coach Program Selected to Represent State at CTE Day at the Capitol

NEWPORT, AR – Arkansas State University-Newport’s (ASUN) Career Coach Program was
selected to represent the statewide Career Coach initiative at Career and Technical
Education (CTE) Day at the Capitol on February 5, 2025. This recognition highlights
ASUN’s leadership in career guidance, workforce development, and student success across
Arkansas.
CTE Day at the Capitol, held at the Arkansas State Capitol Rotunda, brings together
educators, students, and state leaders to showcase the impact of Career and Technical
Education programs in preparing students for in-demand careers. ASUN’s selection as
the state representative underscores the program’s effectiveness in bridging education
and workforce readiness.
During the CTE Showcase, ASUN’s Career Coach team engaged with state officials, industry
partners, and students to highlight the personalized career guidance, work-based learning
opportunities, and employer partnerships that set the program apart.
Kristine Penix, Career Coach Program Manager at ASUN, expressed her excitement about
the program’s selection:

ASUN’s delegation at the event will include Career Coaches, ASUN leadership, and Chancellor
Dr. Johnny Moore. A team photo, featuring the Career Coaches, their Dean, and Chancellor
Moore, captures the strong support and commitment of ASUN’s administration toward
student success and workforce development.
The ASUN Career Coach Program is instrumental in guiding students through career exploration,
college planning, and workforce preparation. Through one-on-one mentorship, industry
connections, and educational support, the program helps students navigate high-demand
